Is there any point praying for something?

I'm sure we all know the "ask and you shall receive" Bible verse in Matthew 7:7-8 (KJV/NIV), where Jesus says, "Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you". This encourages persistent, faithful prayer, promising that God, as a loving Father, provides good gifts to those who ask.

But have you ever gotten what you asked for? Can we rely on getting what we pray for? Is there more to this verse than first meets the eye? Can I ask for a Lamborghini and get one?🫣

Many people report that prayer serves as a source of comfort and hope, especially in difficult times. It can help individuals cope with pain, loss, and trauma, providing a sense of agency when facing dire situations.
